Hey Friends and Family!
As you may or may not know, in May I decided to take a leap of faith by transitioning into full time vocational ministry as an urban missionary in the inner city of Atlanta. I am blessed to be working with an amazing ministry called City Takers whose mission is “RAISING UP URBAN MISSIONARIES THAT TRANSFORM CITIES THROUGH HIP HOP, LOVE AND JESUS.” I’ve been blessed to be in a position to serve those who our society would consider the “least of these.” Our mission at City Takers has a heart for the poor, marginalized and the lost. I have had the opportunity to see firsthand how people are impacted and transformed with the love of Christ as we meet physical needs and use music as a tool to draw people to truth, community and hope. Some of our programs at City Takers include weekly food distribution in our community, monthly services and meals for people living on the streets, prison ministry, youth mentoring programs including a music production program, a clothing line program and an open gym program, outreach concerts, community block parties, a radio show and a weekly missional Sunday church service.
My Role
I am currently on staff as an urban missionary and mission team lead. I have moved into our mission field and weekly serve my neighbors while bridging them to resources and faith opportunities. I help facilitate all City Taker’s programs, especially our youth development program working with at-risk teens and Fresh Food Fridays where I am the assigned community liaison in one of our adopted neighborhoods. I also have the incredible opportunity to lead mission teams from all over the country on inner city mission trips where participants have an immersive, hands-on experience in the city learning about urban missions and serving people in crisis.
