HELP ME TAKE THE CITY!
HEY FAMILY & FRIENDS
Ever since I was a kid I had a heart for the lost and the broken but didn’t know how to do anything about it. I have experienced God during many dark times. Even when I lived out deep struggles and tried to do things on my own, God pulled me out, but this conviction for serving others was always there in the background.
Slowly, after doing multiple mission trips abroad in South Africa, Ecuador, México, Cambodia, and Malaysia, I felt God really using me, pulling me out of my shell, giving me boldness and the words to reach people in impactful ways. During the first (2) trips I was far from living for the Lord, but He slowly met me more and more in the dark places of my soul, until there came a point I couldn’t run away any longer and I started to fully surrender my life to Him.
These mission experiences helped disciple me and gave me an opportunity to serve the lost and the broken. I now know how to live out the conviction I’ve had since a kid.
I see God putting the opportunity to be a full-time missionary in Atlanta before me and I want to say ‘yes.’ My only desire is to be a consistent, loving, trustworthy person that puts others before myself, to be like Jesus.
LIFE AS AN URBAN MISSIONARY
Being on mission in the inner city has taught me how to love well, and how to stay unspotted from the world (James 1:27). As I follow after Jesus, reading about how he walked the earth, I am convicted to reach and touch those who need him. My heart goes out to those who are cast out in society, pushed to the side, not loved or known by anyone. Here in the city, there are a million problems and it’s easy to get overwhelmed, but I remember where my strength ends, His begins. We are all rooted in something, and as an urban missionary I’m learning to address the root and not the fruit of the problems of those who are marginalized with the Good News that heals and restores! The Lord is really touching people through City Takers, breaking cycles of poverty, crime, addiction, and homelessness!
