We met these 2 young men during our weekly Fresh Food Friday’s outreach in our community.  They had just moved into the neighborhood and their mother, Karen, had been looking for a safe place for her sons to be because she feared letting them hangout outside.  After an invitation from one of our leaders, during our grocery distribution, their family started coming to our church plant. They have been coming consistently and getting involved ever since.  David and Christian are now a part of our “Greater Than” teen development program and have grown in developing their identity in Christ and understanding their purpose. Every week they have discipleship time with male mentors and play basketball together. Their mom has shared with us how City Takers has been an answer to prayer, as her boys do not get much physical activity because she feels the neighborhood is too dangerous to allow them to play outside.  We have been able to connect David and Christian to many cultural and educational experiences and they have been brave in attending youth field trips that have been outside their comfort zone. They have become a part of our City Takers family and we are so proud of them!

This April, we celebrated Easter with our neighbors in City Takers fashion! First, we had an amazing Easter production featuring original music, dance, worship and a Word. We had over 25 people receive Christ as their savior and 10 people were baptized! After our missional Easter service, we celebrated the Resurrection with a block party that included an Easter egg hunt, food, games, music and more! Check out the recap video above!

On Sunday, May 16th, we teamed up with Hillsong Atlanta to host a “Love Your Neighbor” block party right in our neighborhood, in the inner city of Atlanta. We had over 200 people come out and enjoy community, food, music, games, free haircuts and relief aid. We take the “love your neighbor” thing seriously! Check out the recap video above!
